ATWOOD
ISSA BELLA (Tughill Commando x JJF Bell of the Ball)
2018 bay filly
As Bell had reached the end of her producing years, we had to consider what stallion would be the best choice for a breeding worthy of a finale to her career
as a producer. There are still stallions I had hoped to cross to her for an extra special foal. I have always believed in the theory of breeding a mare to the
best blood in her dam’s line. When frozen semen of the legendary Tughill Commando, the sire of Bell’s dam, became available, it seemed like a superb opportunity
to double the blood of Commando. The news that Bell was safely in foal to Commando was a day of celebration on Atwood Farm. We are grateful to Carol Hudson and
Deb LeMay for their parts in helping us make this dream a reality.
Bell’s delivery of a perfect, dark, bay filly confirmed our highest hopes for this cross. Atwood Issa Bella has her sire’s unique beauty in a
feminine package, with a chiseled head, tiny ears, tapering muzzle and large, soft eyes. Her legs are straight and correct and her shoulder is angled perfectly
to allow for a neck that comes straight up out of her back. So many Commando get have made their mark in the show ring and gone on to contribute to the Morgan
breed by producing excellent foals that are a credit to their sire. We’ve no doubt that Issa Bella will one day be added to the ranks of Commando get that have
helped to establish their sire as one of the most successful of the breed.
:Like so many of the get of Tughill Commando, Issa Bella shows considerable potential for success in the Western division. With that gorgeous
head trimmed in silver, she would be unbeatable, and she will one day be worth her weight in gold as a broodmare.
There will not be many- if any- more young daughters of Commando available.
We'd like to congratulate longtime Morgan horse owner, Beverley Olson of Sultan, Washington on the purchase of Atwood Issa Bella. We feel
honored that Mrs. Olson chose Issa Bella and know she will be appreciated and loved as she deserves. Issa Bella will be stabled with Daryl
Hopson in Walla Walla, WA. We wish them all the best with one of the last daughters of the legendary Tughill Commando and the last produce
of our foundation broodmare, JJF Bell of the Ball.

HERE WE GO AGAIN (MEM The Patriot x Perfect Cut)
2016 brown gelding
W
e were so happy with Atwood Figuratively that we had to repeat the breeding of Diamond to Patriot.
The result was a nearly identical full brother with the same star and two rear white socks and deep brown coloring. Rony
also has Fig's size and friendly, curious nature.
Kelly Gilmartin of Wilbraham, MA had been Rony’s biggest fan since he was a weanling. She followed his growth and development and purchased him
from us late in his two year old year to eventually be her own future mount. She sent him to Mary Carlton to continue his training.
Look for his show ring debut in spring of 2019 in the Hunter Pleasure division.
We wish Kelly much happiness and success with this exceptional young horse. Kelly, you got a good one, but you know that already!

ATWOOD EARL OF ESSEX (Roberto Cavalli x Perfect Cut)
2013 bay gelding
E
ssex has a regal quality; he should, as he has two crosses to Cedar Creek Harlequin through his grandsires, Hollybrook
Stage Rage and Cartier. He also has two crosses to the great
Schiaparelli and his grand dam is the wonderful producing
mare, Aljaks Miss Wham I Am. Essex has long legs and a
beautiful head. It also looks as though he has inherited his
sire's athletic ability.
We were honored to have Essex’s photo chosen second place for breed character in The Amazing Morgan Foals contest published
in the October 2013 issue of The Morgan Horse. We thank Steve Davis, director of the UVM Morgan Horse Farm and judge for the photo contest,
for appreciating Essex’s qualities. The success of the get of Roberto Cavalli
at the 2013 Morgan Weanling Gala supports the promise we saw
in Roberto as a sire.
Essex has incredible potential in the
show ring. He began his training at Lookaway Farm late in his three year old year. He has natural, balanced Park motion and the perfect
angle to his shoulder that will ensure he can naturally carry his front end where it needs to be. He is going very nicely under saddle and in
harness and could excel at either.
Congratulations to Jim and Jenny Taylor, Memory Lane Stables, on the purchase of Essex. We wish them much success with this exceptional horse.

ATWOOD FIGURATIVELY
(MEM The Patriot x Perfect Cut) 2014
brown colt
The beauty of both Futurity French Command and Cartier is evident in Fig. He looks a great deal like his sire,
with his perfect star and laid back shoulder. Fig is high headed and proud, and moves like a show horse. He has
inherited the exceptionally kind nature of all of Diamond’s foals.
Fig is one of the most photogenic foals we have bred, and in the United Kingdom, Alexandra Connor saw his photos and became his biggest admirer. For nearly two years, Alexandra followed Fig's development and progress; with just a few months remaining until her husband's tour of duty in England is over, Fig became a member of the Connor family. They will be united late in 2016 when Jordan, Alexandra and Clayton return to the U.S.
Alexandra has future show plans for Fig; we wish them much success and offer our congratulations on the purchase of this beautiful colt.

ATWOOD CINCINNATUS (Aljaks Double Whammy x JJF Bell of the Ball)
2011 chestnut gelding
O
ne of our goals when we
established Atwood Farm as a breeding operation was to breed a national champion. Atwood Cincinnatus was a standout from day one, with an
exceptional length of neck and a natural ability to move off his hocks. He had the good looks and temperament of his excellent sire,
Aljak’s Double Whammy and the refinement and trotting ability of his maternal grandsire, HVK Bell Flaire. Nat took quickly to saddle
work, and with his intelligence and good work ethic he blossomed under his training at Lookaway Farm in Medina, OH. His debut under
saddle at the 2014 Buckeye Morgan Horse Show was a phenomenon; he traveled to OK two months later where he demonstrated his ability to
compete on a national level, and brought home the Grand National Championship in Three Year Old English Pleasure- Stallions and Geldings.
-In 2015, Nat continued building his show ring resume under the direction of Lookaway Farm, with debuts in both the Ladies and Jr. Exhibitor divisions. His win at
the New York Regional and a top eight finish in an extremely competitive World Championship Jr. Exhibitor English Pleasure class were highlights. Beth Wilber of Medina,
OH has been a member of Nat’s fan club since his early days of training at Lookaway Farm. We couldn’t be happier that he will now be a part of Beth’s family. We wish
Beth and her daughter, Erin, great success with this phenomenal show horse and look forward
to following his career under the continued direction of Lookaway Farm. Congratulations, Beth! We hope you love him as much as we always have.

2014 brown colt
W
e so looked forward to the birth of this colt, as he would carry close up crosses to Tughill Commando on
the top and bottom of his pedigree. He didn’t disappoint us: Topper is built like a model Morgan- from his tiny ears and
beautiful head to his close-coupled body and high set tail. Bell’s foals are always full of personality, and Topper is no exception. He has loved
people from the moment he first stood up. This colt has halter horse written all over him as well as the potential to sire
excellent foals one day.
Kristy Pojda was looking for a young prospect when she saw Topper’s photos and video on our web site. Within days, Topper was in his
new home in Guthrie, OK, where Kristy will train him with the guidance of her sister,
Kelly Kraegel of Cottonwood Creek Ranch. We know this colt has a blue ribbon future and wish Kristy much success.

ATWOOD COLORS ME SPECIAL (Ancan True Colors x Nonesuch Very Special)
2011 palomino mare
MeMe is everything we hoped for when we crossed Iris with Ancan True Colors. Iris always puts a pretty head on her foals; this might be her best effort yet. Fine and feminine, with a dished profile and large soft eyes, MeMe also has good length of leg with her sire's ability to move off her hocks. It would be difficult to find a better example of a palomino filly in the breed. With her
size, attitude and ability, MeMe's
future in the show ring will be golden. We were so pleased when the Bogars of Walpole, NH chose MeMe to be a golden addition to their family,
and we know that MeMe will represent us well in the New England area.
We are looking forward to following her success with Averi. Congratulations to Averi Bogar of Walpole, NH.

NONESUCH VERY SPECIAL (Yellow Iris Stevens x Nonesuch Secret Storm)
1998 dark chestnut mare
B
ack
in the 1970s and 80s, one of the top breeding stallions was
the beautiful Chasley Superman. Those who saw him will never forget him. He
passed on his particular beauty to his get and one of his best sons was Yellow Iris Stevens who headed the breeding program at Leslie Blanchard's
Yellow Iris Farm. We were fortunate to locate and purchase Nonesuch Very Special, one of Stevens's last daughters to use as one of Atwood's foundation
broodmares. Bred by longtime Morgan breeder, Carolyn Warman, "Iris" carries a second cross to Superman on her dam's side through World Champion
Rapidan Apollo. A couple of generations back she also has a cross to Troutbrook Playboy through the good breeding horse Shaker's Rio and plenty
of government breeding to round things out. Iris has the look of the Superman bred horses, including the clean throatlatch and smooth lines. She
also has an incredibly beautiful head and eye and consistently passes these traits on to her offspring.
Iris is as special as her name would suggest. She is a kind
and sweet mare and a good mother. She is a breeder's dream:
she conceives easily and foals on schedule. She has produced
seven good foals, three of which carry the Atwood Prefix. When she isn't nursing a foal, we enjoyed riding Iris around the farm. Iris was one of our foundation broodmares, and we
love her as an individual and for her excellent and rare bloodlines; it was disheartening when she could no longer produce foals. But we were so happy when our friends,
Connie and Roger Stitzlein invited her to be a companion to their
retired Saddlebred mare on their beautiful farm. We’re certain that Iris is convinced she has died and gone to horse heaven. Congratulations to
Connie and Roger Stitzlein of Loudonville, OH.

ATWOOD DEBUTANTE THYME (Winterset Thyme n'Agin x JJF Bell of the Ball)
2012 black filly
Minutes after Deb's birth, we knew she was a good one. Crossing Bell with Winterset Thyme N'Agin doubled the blood of HVK Bell Flaire, and the results are exactly what we'd hope for. Deb is as correct as she can be, and has a gorgeous head with a perfectly upright neck. Aubrey Alford, of Indian Hills. Co. recognized Deb's quality and has a high opinion of Deb's dam. Deb will now grow up in the Rocky Mountains, just as JJF Bell of the Ball did. Deb was one we hated to part with, but we know she will have an excellent home in Colorado. We wish Aubrey much success.

carries the blood of Trophy through Dee Cee Mr. Trophy and
government breeding through UVM Gates. Lacy had several years of
successful showing in hunt seat and English Pleasure. Lacy provides a beautiful splash of golden color against the backdrop of all of our dark brown,
bay and chestnut, and visitors to Atwood Farm seem to notice her first. Lacy produced a beautiful buckskin colt by Rio's Promise in April, 2012.

ATWOOD ARABELLA (HVK Dragon Beat x JJF Bell of the Ball)
2009 black mare
W
ith HVK Bell Flaire and And The Beat Goes On as grand sires and
Sun South Capri as her maternal grand dam, Atwood Arabella
was certainly bred to be a show horse. And from birth she
has looked and acted like a show horse. She was a Reserve Jr. Champion mare at the Gold Cup regional as a yearling, and had a very successful season in Jr. Hunter Pleasure classes as a three year old, including a Jr. Championship at the Buckeye Morgan Show. Arabella has been professionally trained as a yearling, two year old and three year old. She has the temperament for junior exhibitors or amateurs, and her trainers have remarked about her intelligence and sweet disposition. She should be very competitive in her last year as a junior horse in 2013. Arabella is also trained to drive and with her breeding should produce excellent foals when she
has been retired from the show ring. She is currently in training and may be seen at Lookaway Farm in Medina, Ohio.
It was tempting to keep Arabella for ourselves. She was the first to carry our prefix and she will always be very special to us
for her beauty, kind disposition, and athletic ability. But we couldn’t be happier than to congratulate Stacey Buehler of
Concord, OH on her purchase of Arabella, and wish her much
success. Stacey, you got a good one!

ATWOOD CAMEO
(Notahoby Independence x LGR Moriah)
2011 bay filly
Atwood Cameo is her dam's first full Morgan foal, and she greatly resembles her mother, with the same solid, rich bay coloring and classic Morgan type.
She did inherit her sire's pretty head and kind disposition. Cameo loves to run and has been curious since birth.
She would be suitable for many disciplines, and would make a beautiful western pleasure horse. One look at her pedigree
supports that she is also an outstanding broodmare candidate, with crosses to great stallions such as Beamine, Waseeka's Skylark, Tedwin Topic and Ultimate Command.
She also carries the blood of the great producing mares Pleasant Lady, Azurewood High Time, Brentwood Elegance, Fieldcrest Falina and Overlook Jessica.

when Rhoda was looking for a young stallion prospect. Both
Randy and Rhoda were impressed with the two year old, GVF
Proper Command (Ultimate Command x LCS Stardust [by Tedwin
Topic]). Proper Command went on to sire several nice foals
before his too early death. When Cindy Hallet of Locust
Grove Ranch switched her breeding operation from Morgans to
Arabians, LGR Moriah became available and was added to the
Atwood herd. Moriah was one of only three daughters that
Proper Command sired and she looks a great deal like her
sire. On her dam's side, she has lots of Brunk breeding as
well as crosses to Waseeka's Moonshot through the beautiful
Kinglow Charade and Kingston through Applevale Storm King.
Moriah was bred to Locust Grove's Egyptian Arabian stallion
and produced one foal for Locust Grove before coming to
Atwood Farm. The result was a beautiful black Morab filly
(pictured at right; click to enlarge). Moriah has the typey
good looks of many of the Morgans that attracted Randy to
the breed in the 1970s. Her Brunk breeding gives her plenty
of spark. In April 2011, Moriah produced her first Morgan

JACKRABBIT SLIM (Pot of Gold x MSV Victoria)
2002 bay gelding
World
Champion stallion, Pot of Gold, has produced many athletic and beautiful horses. When Jackrabbit Slim was offered
for sale at the 2010 Signature Sale, we couldn't pass him up. Out of the Arboria Noble Victor daughter, MSV Victoria, Slim
was bred and trained to be a show horse. Trained and shown by Kurt Hufferd, he has had wins from New England to Oklahoma City,
in Park Harness and Pleasure Driving. More recently, Playmor Farm showed him in Classic Pleasure Driving. Even barefoot, Slim has
a trot that thrills us. He seems to be enjoying a break from the show ring and loves his pasture turn out. In the stall, he is a
sweetheart to be around. We're planning on hitching Slim and driving him around the farm, but
won't rule out bringing him back to the show ring, as Slim could have many years of showing left in him.

2010 chestnut colt
Our
friends Jack and Becky Caley of JRC Morgans were fortunate to obtain a grandson of both Beamine and Waseeka's Skylark from the
Cochran Auction. Sired by Wildtime and out of Brentwood Elegance, Notahoby
Independence is a beautiful example of a classic Morgan. We
were so impressed by his looks and his offspring that we
chose him as a breeding choice for Nonesuch Very Special.
Atwood Beguiling Batik is the first foal bred by Atwood Farm
and we couldn't be happier with him. Batik has shed out to
his mother's dark chestnut color and has a perfect small
star and snip to accent his head which is a beautiful
combination of his parents'. Batik is easy to work with and
enjoys being around people. At only a week old he was

in May of 2009, and from the start he entertained us with
his curiosity and zest for life. He had his sire's brilliant
